Its ok

I don't even want to give this school a 1 star, after the experiences of attending for 4 years through from year 8 till year 11 in 2013. First and foremost it is of a very poor standard, where they are only interested in the stuck up middle class trash. There is also a lot of bullying as you can see how these posh brutes look down on those who are less financially privileged. Most importantly you can say goodbye to building yourself as an individual and staying true to who you are, as there is too much pressure on kids to fit in. More deprived less financially invested schools are better in this case as you can express yourself as a individual without being made fun of and / looked down upon as some sort of alien. There is a lot of staff whereby, who put students down and do not encourage them especially those who are of a minority considering their ethnicity/religion. Proved the entire staff wrong on my GCSE Results as I was constantly told I would receive very low grades. My true potential was severely affected due to these very harsh and degrading comments on what I can achieve and what I cannot achieve like they're PhD graduates or something hahahaha!I am ashamed to have ever attended this school! There is also no equality whatsoever!!!

I am a student at Tapton and shall be leaving in approximately three weeks, having been at this school for four years. Judging by this, I shall give you an honest, detailed review of the school. As many planning to go to the school would note, the school has been awarded extremely high ratings from OFSTED on a regular annual basis and has been voted the best school in the UK based on academic results and achievements. The departments in the school, in terms of what it has to offer and the equipment available, is excellent. The level of teaching is varied; Like all schools, you have the good and the bad. Dependant on the subject, its generally good. The grounds are brilliant. Science, Art, PE and English departments are brilliant, less so for others. Safeguarding teams are at hand and are relatively good, but not overly brilliant in terms of commitment (controversial, yes) and organisation around issues surrounding bullying and anti social matters. However, their are many faults with Tapton despite its many good points. Firstly, the school has something called the "stairs system". This is nothing short of absurd. The idea of it apparently was to institute a system for VI students to be safer and decrease the amount of "crushes" between lessons. This means some stairs are "up only" and some are "down only". This is an absolutely ridiculous idea and has done nothing but 1) increase the amount of crushes, causing more harm to the ever so sensitive VI students 2) increasing the rate of lateness and punctuality due to the length of time between lessons increased because the route from one to the other has been made longer. Another bad thing is the schools terrible management of the "behaviour system", a five stage system to manage bad behaviour. I am not at all a badly behaved student and the fact that teachers say this system is abused by us is plain immoral. The teachers themselves abuse this system on a regular basis if they feel that the power of the student greatly overthrows their falsely acclaimed and believed power over the class. As soon as the teacher feels this lack of power they will jump to a certain stage, fully well knowing theyre incorrect and falsely claiming that the student is being aggressive or defiant. This does not happen all the time - their are notable exceptions - but its a very common occurrence and one that any student will tell you. The school in terms of cleanliness and hygiene is not particularly good either. Toilets can be pretty diabolical at times and can resemble the appearance of an Ethiopian slum if not cleaned regularly. Many of the doors are broken, there are constant issues with blockages. Cleaners do generally do a very good job however, and I praise them for their hard work. How the hundreds of pounds the school begs off us isn't going into sorting these major plumbing issues is quite hilarious and rather aggravating. There is also a problem with subjects of racism or offense, as I myself am no stranger to controversy in this school and have been the victim of some of the most outrageous punishments literally in the world. Anything that apparently offends someone, or goes against the rules of political correctness, the punishments are severe. I believe that its these kind of problems which are the cancerous upbringing of panty waste fascists that get offended by everything and clearly cant take something called a "joke". Obviously parents need to be aware of this ridiculous enforcement and its effects. Its not an interrogative review, its honesty.Rules on chewing gum are a problem. As something proven to increase concentration I see absolutely no reason why its banned, and for those saying "people stick it under the tables" - grow up. If we have children dying in Syria Im sure a bit of chewing gum isn't a major issue in he world. How about you use that money we give you and by some more instead of spending it on more stationary. The media side of things - Music and Drama departments - are excellent in terms of what they produce (I highly recommend you witness their performances).

It is a great experience to look at the kid work

Tapton School is a very good school and very good in the science and art departments. All the teachers are very good at their job and if I could, I would give Tapton 6 out of 5 stars!
