Stunning but not overstated, the Cathedral Church of St Marie is Sheffield's second cathedral, built in 1850. The interior is peaceful and thoughtful, full of gold decoration but not overly gaudy.Slightly smaller than the other cathedral, St Marie's is filled with memorials and artwork in every niche and alcove. There are several separate transepts, each with their own places for prayer. There are regular services each day, guided tours every Wednesday and even organ demonstrations a few times a month. The website is very good for showing what's on.
