Great staff and lovely atmosphere!
I found the midwifery service upstairs far more difficult to access than expected solely because the receptionist wouldn't let me through to see the midwife without abandoning my pushchair near the stairs. I was nine months pregnant with a one year old in tow. It also meant the pushchair was unattended and out of sight. I was the only person using the midwifery service at the time so it was hardly necessary to make me abandon the pushchair and there was ample space in the centre to maintain a clutter-free corridor. This has really deterred me from using this service even though midwives who come to the house have done their best to persuade me that going there is better than waiting in all day. I now have a double pushchair, a one week old and a one year old. Will I go again? No!

Highfield Library is my local library. It is situated at the end of London Rd, before Mount Pleasant Park. The building is over 100 years old, and I presume that it was an education establishment. It has two floors, with the main library downstairs and the childrens library upstairs. Because of its age the ceilings are high while the windows are narrow. This creates an open space thats in perpetual darkness. As such it relies on artificial lighting, and at the moment the lighting is fluorescent; so everything has a green cast. The library was refurbished recently and along with new carpets and extra comfy reading chairs they have installed a disabled access lift to the childrens library. They've introduced self-service borrowing machines; which are neither here nor there. The main improvement is with the computers, the corner space has been specifically designed to house them, with the printer positioned in the middle of the space. oh, and most importantly the staff are (tbh) some of the friendliest librarians i've ever met (& I have met a few).
