Lovely day , more to see than we realised . Went for the Mary queen of Scots day and learnt more about her time in Sheffield, walking around on the grounds which I never knew you could. Can't wait to go back when they open in April!
We love walking around here. Can't figure out quite when the visitors centre is open but we've managed to attend a couple of craft sessions there which were horrendously chaotic and not at all organised. We won't be going to any more. The grounds are lovely though and it's great to be able to walk amongst our history.
A great place to spend a long afternoon! I think this place has brilliant guides who offer a great insight in to an interesting and little known part of Sheffield history! I also enjoy sitting in the cafe and just chatting and relaxing for a while with friends. The staff and volunteers do a great job of keeping this part of Sheffield's history alive and this should be more widely supported and encouraged! Will definitely be telling more people about it!
This is an absolute gem of a place. It is run by dedicated and very knowledgeable volunteers who bring history to life. The gardens are well worth a walk around and the aim to bring back meadows is a fabulous idea. I would visit every week for the view, walk and a cup of tea if I lived in Sheffield. I'm glad I've discovered it and will be revisiting next season.
