The staff in this hotel are fantastic. Always smiling.Lee behind the bar looks after you as soon as you walk in.Excellent!
Offered a late check out because we were members. Staff were very friendly and happy to talk about the local area. Room was clean and had modern amenities like iron, they did lack a hairdryer. One thing was the breakfast as it was expensive even with discount and seemed to be a standard buffet. Id say that if you're not in a rush check out local cafes and bistros for breakfast. Overall would return.
Very nice and comfy hotel, location is spot on. Prices are good. I have to say though I found the rooms relaxing and pleasant.
Never in my life have I encountered such problems in waiting for a refund for money wrongly taken on my card. It was confirmed by the manager - Sam Connolly - in May 2018 that I would receive a refund. 5 months later, after I've made numerous emails and phone calls - mostly not returned - I am still waiting for the 60 refund. It seems to be excuse after excuse. Now apparently it's been processed - he advised it would be in my account yesterday, it wasn't. Perhaps in a few days it will appear - I hope so. I have spent so much time already chasing up this refund, I'm completely fed up of dealing with them - hence writing this review. Appalling customer service. I would recommend staying in the Leopold at little further down the road - they provide much better customer service. I feel for the other staff at this hotel as they have always been helpful when I've phoned.
I stayed very recently here and was pleasantly surprised. Like many other people, I looked at the reviews and some of them left me wondering whether it would be a good place to stay. I took the risk so I could at least form my own opinion, and it really wasnt as bad as some of the reviews make it out to be. I was worried about the nearby construction going on but we never heard anything even during working hours for the site. The staff were super friendly, I was able to check in way earlier than the check in times allocated on the info for the hotel which was great. Everybody we walked by who worked there always greeted us and smiled, the staff were fab. The rooms were nice, very tidy, beds comfy. The only negative point really was that there wasnt much sound proofing in the room, you could easily here doors being opened/shut, but that cant be helped. The main thing was that due to being able to hear outside goings on, there was one night where people can back from a night out causing ruckus and shouting, but thats in no way the fault of the hotel, just bad guests. As some of the comments say, I never got any extra charges for anything, bills for damages etc (not that I expected to! We left the room as clean and presentable as possible before we left for the cleaners to have an easier job fixing the room up.), so I wouldnt worry about that. Overall, it suits its rating, its not the most perfect hotel but there was no reason for me to not to want to go back. Fab experience there, just booked another visit there, excited to stay there again!
